The Governor's Hospitality and Tourism Conference is just days away!

Networking and Entertainment: Reconnect with industry peers for an evening of networking and fun during the Live the Legend Welcome Reception at a local favorite, Black Tooth Brewery. Enjoy entertainment from Jim Wilkinson.
Don’t miss Wyoming’s own , Sam Munsick , performing at Monday evening’s Legislative Reception. Indulge on gourmet food and have some one-on-one time with your Wyoming state leaders.

Session Highlight: Don’t miss the two-part series! Tourism development often requires the engagement of the local destination marketing organization to get the project done. If we don’t “own” this issue, who will? These sessions feature leaders from two destinations who made changes to attract new visitors and also includes examples of WY organizations who took control of the need for local attractions and successfully made things happen.

Reminders: Flaunt your destination gear on Monday for Destination Day / Dress to impress - the sparklier the better - for Tuesday evening’s Casino Night-themed Wyoming Education Foundation Gala.

Welcome to the New Tourism Industry Website

After months of hard work and extensive industry input, The Wyoming Office of Tourism is thrilled to announce the launch of its new industry-focused website. The site features a fresh look, simplified navigation, streamlined menus and a more responsive layout focused on matching partners’ needs.

The new layout has a wide array of resources, including upcoming events; marketing and branding assets; a high-level tourism recap; in-depth research and reports; and considerably more.

There are areas dedicated to both media and film which will provide journalists and movie producers pertinent information to assist in their projects focused on Wyoming promotions.

Partners will also be able to access and update their business listings through an easy-to-use portal, helping ensure that the most accurate information is being featured on TravelWyoming.com and in the Official Wyoming Travel Guide.

We hope you’ll find it easier to navigate and discover what you’re looking for more quickly and efficiently.

Top Media Placements
Stemming from the PR team’s relationship with freelance reporter Megan McCrea, Cloud Peak Skyway scenic byway was included as one of AAA Via’s “Off-the-Beaten Path Places to Visit in 2022,” in January. Activities and points of interest in Buffalo, Ten Sleep, Washakie and more were highlighted in the piece. Based on the PR team’s continued conversations with Condé Nast Traveler and relationship with contributor Rachel Chang, Yellowstone National Park’s upcoming 150th anniversary was featured in a roundup of national parks requiring reservations in 2022 and celebrated Yellowstone for its record-breaking visitation in 2021.

Additionally, as a result from the October group press trip, Laura Kiniry highlighted the quirky Wyoming-regional pairing of chili and cinnamon rolls in Smithsonian, exploring the unique history and nostalgia of the combination.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

Cowboy Character

Partner Spotlight: Cowboy Character

Cowboy Character, launched last summer, is Visit Laramie’s new responsible recreation campaign. The goal of the campaign is to help the Laramie area continue to promote but protect outdoor amenities in a sustainable way so that future generations can enjoy them as much as people do today.

The campaign was created through a partnership with the Haub School at the University of Wyoming. While the students at UW helped significantly with research on how best to roll out the campaign, the Visit Laramie marketing team came up with the tagline “Cowboy Character”. The inspiration for the idea comes from the Cowboy Code of Ethics where those 10 principles were blended with Leave No Trace and responsible recreation principles.

Through Visit Laramie’s partnership with the US Forest Service and local businesses, they were able to hang up the poster at over 50 local trailheads and campgrounds and distribute it to over 50 local businesses and public spaces downtown. Stickers were also handed out at the Farmers Market to promote the campaign, and a media campaign was launched through a partnership with Madden Media. In 2022, Visit Laramie is looking forward to rolling out the Cowboy Character Challenge and a winter version of the campaign, which they hope will incentivize responsible behavior by recreationists with prizes and gamify crowd dispersion at popular trailheads and camp sites.
