Destination Development Program Fuels Tourism Growth

For 15 years, the Wyoming Office of Tourism (WOT) has empowered communities to become tourism-ready through strategic investment and development. Building on this foundation, the WY Best program launched in 2019, offering Wyoming’s 27 county Lodging Tax Boards strategic planning resources to enhance their appeal as travel destinations.

WOT envisions a thriving tourism economy that benefits even the smallest Wyoming communities, fostering long-term economic sustainability. Recognizing the diverse needs of its partners, WOT developed the Destination Development Program. This initiative provides funding, resources, and guidance to maximize each community’s potential, driving economic growth throughout the state.

Tiered Support

The Destination Development Program utilizes a tiered system to assess current county structures and identify areas for improvement. WOT provides tailored support based on these tiers, empowering communities to reach their full potential. Initiatives can be implemented statewide, by county, or through collaborative partnerships between counties.

By fostering local participation and engagement, this ground-up approach ensures that communities are actively involved in shaping their tourism development strategies.
